About PNG to TIFF conversion

TIFF is a flexible container used in print production, photography, scanning and archives. It can store high bit depth, multiple pages and CMYK data, and it supports lossless compression.

This converter writes an 8-bit RGBA TIFF. Deflate compression, the default, is lossless and makes files far smaller than uncompressed. Most professional tools open it, including Photoshop, GIMP, Affinity and macOS Preview. If a very old program can't read it, choose “None” for the most compatible uncompressed file.

What happens to transparency

Transparency is kept as an extra alpha channel. Some print workflows ignore alpha, so flatten the image onto its final background first if that matters for your job.

When TIFF is the right choice

  • Print production and prepress hand-off
  • Archiving images without lossy compression
  • Scientific and technical imaging workflows

When to use something else

  • Web pages and email. Most browsers can't display TIFF, and files are large.
  • Phone sharing and chat apps
  • CMYK production work. This tool writes RGB, so convert color profiles in your print software.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't my browser show TIFF files?

Most browsers don't support TIFF. Open it with an image editor or viewer instead, or use PNG or JPG for web display.

Which compression should I choose?

Deflate is lossless and produces much smaller files. Choose None only if the software that reads the file can't handle compressed TIFF.

Will this TIFF be CMYK?

No. The file is RGB. Convert to CMYK in your print software, using the profile your printer asks for.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser, so your images never leave your device.

How many PNG files can I convert at once?

Up to 50 files, each up to 100 MB. Add them together and download everything as a ZIP.
